Description

Blargh. The annual depression piece without any other context. :P (Yeah I just noticed I seem to make one every year around the same time)

For some reason it's always the middle of Summer when I feel the absolute worst. And other petty negative adjectives I won't repeat for some taste to remain.

Welp! That was that. Time to spine up.

There are several important things that stand out to me in this piece.

For one, the contrast of light and dark. The darker shades around the center of the piece with the hair and the chest really help with the relation of the mind and the heart to emotion. And in that regard, my second note is of the very fine lines used to detail everything gives me the sense of fragility with humans. Between the lines and the contrast, and even the tired look on the face all work together to show the emotion and the feeling of depression.

A final thought I have is how the subject is holding their bag close to them, as if it is there to protect them. Perhaps in light of the depression, this bag represents a sense of hope and healing to them.

The touch of texture surrounding the subject helps complete this piece.

Overall I feel you have created a very detailed work of art that without description, gives a subtle sense of unrest, but with a feeling of hope.
